Binary options trading glossary

At the money

It is one of three terms we use to depict if the option is able to make profit. We are talking about "at the money" term, when the target price of the options is exactly the same as the price of an underlying asset. If that is when the options expires, you will get the payout.

Binary option

Binary options are assets which we nay use in a certain type of market trading. They generate profit, if you predict a yes/no proposition correctly. For example, you may predict if the value of an underlying asset - for instance stock - would rise or decrease. You will be granted a certain percent, if your predictions will be correct.

In the money

This is another of the three terms we use to depict if the option is able to make profit. We are talking about "in the money" situation, when the value of an underlying asset generates income. For instance, if you’ve chosen "high" on the high/low instrument and the asset's price is higher than the target price, the option is "in the money".

Out of the money

This is another of the three terms we use to depict if the option is able to make profit. We are talking about "in the money" situation, when the value of an underlying asset generates income. For instance, if you’ve chosen "high" on the high/low instrument and the asset's price is higher than the target price, the option is "in the money".

Payout

Payout is the money that an investor gets back as soon as the option expires "in the money". For instance, if you invest $2000 and the option offers a 70 % return, you will receive $3400 in returns ($1400 in profit) – but on the condition that the option expires "in the money".

Target price

Also named strike price, it is the value that must be reached by an underlying asset, so the option could end "in-the-money". For instance when you decide to use the one touch instrument and choose “touch” the underlying asset has to touch the target price so the option could end "in the money".

FAQ

What are binary options?

Binary options are easy to trade and may bring you huge extra income. That is because binary options bring a determinate return of each trade. The return is based on the option status at the expiry - whether the trade was "in the money", "out of the money" or "a tie". Binary options trading is a branch of trading that is becoming more and more popular all over the globe. The reason is that binary options trading is quite easy to understand even for a novice. Aside from that, the important advantage of trading binary options is the fact that in binary options trading it is impossible to lose more money than one have invested, and the result is one of the fixed possibilities.

The potential return of a binary option is fixed. The investor knows what are the possibilities before buying the option. One may purchase binary options on virtually any financial product. Binary options may be purchased in two trade directions - one may buy a "call/up" option or a "put/down" option. In this way buying a binary option allows the investor to choose long term or short term investments on any financial product.

Binary options are offered against a certain expiration time. The time may be for instance 20 minutes ahead or at the end of the day. Purchase binary options wisely - one cannot resell once bought binary options before the expiration date.

And what are the assets? They are the products, which the financial market is powered by. The most popular assets are commodities (such as gold or oil), stocks (like Microsoft or Coca Cola), currency pairs (like euro-dollar or dollar-yen), stock indices (Dow Jones, FTSE) and bonds.

The sense of trading binary options is to profit from the asset's value changes. In order to gain that profit one must buy options on individual assets on a set expiration date.

For instance, if one trades a Nasdaq Call option with a value of $200 and the option expired out of the money, one will be credited between $0-20 according as the option one has bought.

If the trade was successful, the guaranteed return will lay between 70-81% of the invested money amount.
